Hon 255: Idea Lab for the Humanities—Initial Thoughts and Expectations

Hi everyone! I'm Karson Dickinson, an animal lover and proud nerd! I am a Creative Writing major with a double minor in English and Philosophy. In other words, I love to think and imagine all the possibilities that live out there in the world. My favorite classes are the ones that I have the freedom to interpret the material in any way I want. I don't like to have my thoughts put into a box, or having the expectation on me that I should perceive things in a certain light. That isn't natural, and I don't think it ever will be.
After the first class, I feel that we will have that freedom to express our unique thoughts, and not be expected to have the same collective thought that is deemed "correct" by the instructor. Professor Santiago Echeverry seems to respect the unique thoughts of each of his students, and I am very excited to discuss those ideas in future classes.

  1. Hi Karson! I love creative writing, its one of my favorite things, though admittedly I'm not the best at it. I love the creativity it gives you and the freedom to express any ideas you want, pretty different from Marine Science which can be very rigid. I'm also a big animal lover! At home in Ohio, I have 2 cats and 2 dogs, which my family and I rescued from the Humane Society. I look forward to being in a group with you this semester :)
